Objectives The purpose of this notebook is to give you a brief introduction to the DiscreteWavelets Toolbox and show you how to use it to load images. SOME basic image manipulation is illustrated as well. You will also learn how to use measures and tools such as cumulative energy, entropy, PSNR, and Huffman coding. Help on the DiscreteWavelets Toolbox Help for the toolbox is available by clicking on Help and then Product Help (or press F1) and then clicking on the DiscreteWavelets Toolbox. Several demos and examples are available as well by clicking on the Demos tab on the Help menu. Image Basics The DiscreteWavelets Toolbox comes with 18 grayscale images and 9 color images for you to use. There are three functions available to tell you more about these images. The first function is called |ImageList|. This function can tell you the names and sizes of the digital images in the Toolbox.

This control is another extension to the now standard and widely used ListView control. I have included SOME of the more common features: shaded columns, column sorting (with data type), but the real addition is the FILTERBAR features of the header. This implementation eliminates all of the work of dealing with the filter messages and item filtering by incorporating it into the control. This could have been implemented as delegates, but we create controls to do the work for us, don t we? I would like to thank Carlos H. Perez since a lot of the implementation came from examples he set with his ListViewEx control.

G UILLAIN-BARRéSYNDROME(GBS)is an uncommon disorder,but one whose impact is far out of proportion to its incidence.Despite a usually good prognosis,GBS is a particularly frightening and often life- altering experience for those diagnosed with the disorder.Many patients are acutely aware of the rapid loss of control of their muscular function, including vital functions such as breathing and swallowing,and fre- quently feel that they are dying.The experience is almost as unnerving for the families of affected individuals.During the acute phase of the ill- ness GBS patients experience the indignity of helplessness in addition to their fear of death or permanent disability.Prolonged disability is com- mon and SOME permanent residual effects are becoming increasingly recognized.It has been our experience in meeting patients at support groups,that individuals who have been affected by GBS have a great desire for a better understanding of the disorder,even years after the acute experience.
