I, like many programmers, was hit with the double-whammy of having to learn Windows programming and Win95 serial comm programming at the same time. I found both tasks confusing at best. It was particularly frustrating because I had, over the years, written so much stuff (including lots of serial comm software) for the DOS environment and numerous embedded applications. Interrupt driven serial comm, DMA transfer serial comm, TSR serial comm, C, assembler, various processors... you name it, it had written it. Yet, everything I knew seemed upside-down in the message-driven-callback world of Windows.

The project Adventure is a simple text-based adventure game. The game, as given, involves the hero trying to find his way from a deep dark forest to home and his true love. There s very little else the player can do apart from moving from place to place. It s not really very interesting. This project can be of use beyond the given, rather boring forest adventure though. You can use it as a basis for developing your own adventure game with different, more interesting commands, areas, items, people and so on. The package ope.adventure contains classes to describe the game world.

tServer task executes functions at low priority (254). serverSend funtion is used to send a request to the tServer to execute a function at the tServer s priority. First tServer task executes the i() system call to print the summary of tShell task. Next an address exception is caused in tServer task by trying to execute a funtion at non-aligned word boundry. As a result SIGBUS signal is raised automatically. Signals (setjmp() and longjmp()) are used to allow the tServer task to recover gracefully from an address error exception. This a simple bootloader for AT91SAM7{S,X}{64,128,256} processors. It permits you to download new code to the device over USB. This bootrom is installed at address 0x00000000 in the ARM, which means that it is the first piece of code to execute after reset. At startup, it waits for a few seconds to see if the downloader is trying to connect. If not, then the bootloader gives up control and jumps to your program. If the downloader is trying to connect, then the bootloader receives the new program over USB and writes it into flash.

Hey. This some pid code for the atmega88 that I once used to control a heater. It s purpose is pretty specific, and I only wrote it to work on the mega88, so the code itself won t be too useful. It is a good place to start if you re trying to use or figure out pid though.

As science advances, novel experiments are becoming more and more complex, requiring a zoo of control devices and electronics executing complicated sequences of steps. Device availability and monetary constrains usually lead to a highly heterogeneous setup with components from several different manufacturers using many different protocols and interfacing mechanisms. This often results in control software being puzzled together to use and provide a multitude of interfacing and control functionality, each using their own calling conventions, data structures, etc. To make matters worse, usually a group of relatively independent programmers is trying to write and maintain the code base. Often this causes extensive duplication of effort as program segments are hard to reuse, since unpredictable changes to the segments by the original authors might compromise other code using these segments.
