  • Plug In Electric Vehicles in Smart Grids

Plug in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) use energy storages usually in the form of battery banks that are designed to be recharged using utility grid power. One category of PEVs are Electric Vehicles (EVs) without an internal-combustion (IC) engine where the energy stored in the battery bank is the ONLY source of power to drive the vehicle. These are also referred as Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The second category of PEVs, which is more commercialized than the EVs, is the Plug in

  • POWERHVMOS_Devices_Compact_Modeling

The continuous progress in modern power device technology is increasingly supported by power-specific modeling methodologies and dedicated simulation tools. These enable the detailed analysis of operational principles on the the device and on the system level; in particular, they allow the designer to perform trade- off studies by investigating the operation of competing design variants in a very early stage of the development process. Furthermore, using predictive computer simulation makes it possible to analyze the device and system behavior not ONLY under regularoperatingconditions, but also at the rim of the safe-operatingarea and beyond of it, where destructive processes occur that limit the lifetime of a power system.

  • Switch Mode Power Supplies

For many years prior to the 1970s, engineers designed and built switch mode power supplies (SMPSs) using methods based largely on intuitive and exper- imentally derived techniques. In general, these power supplies were able to achieve their primary goal of high-efficiency power conversion; unfortu- nately, due to the lack of adequate theoretical analysis techniques, many of these power supplies ONLY marginally met their desired performance require- ments. In many cases, they were considered to be unreliable.

  • RFID in the Supply Chain A Guide to Selection

It was the publisher’s idea that I write RFID in the Supply Chain: A Guide to Selection and Implementation . Not ONLY am I editor of Enterprise Inte- gration System , Second Edition Handbook and author of The Complete Book of Middleware , I also had some innovative business process and project management ideas on improving the effectiveness of integrating enterprise systems with information on product traceability, the scope of which has been widened by the RFID technology mandates.

  • RFID+and+Sensor+Network+Automation

With the continued growth in the world's population, there is a need to ensure availability of enough food to feed everyone. Advances in science and technology have helped not ONLY to increase food production, but also to reduce food wastage. However, the latter has the potential to be improved to a significant extent through appropriate matching of supply and demand, and with proper handling during storage and transit. Given the amount of food wastage that occurs after a food item leaves the “farm” on its way to the “fork,” and the availability of means to reduce such wastage, there really is no excuse for feigned ignorance.

  • RFID-WSN+Integrated+Architecture

Radio frequency identification (RFID) and Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are the two key wireless technologies that have diversified applications in the present and the upcoming systems in this area. RFID is a wireless automated recognition technology which is primarily used to recognize objects or to follow their posi- tion without providing any sign about the physical form of the substance. On the other hand, WSN not ONLY offers information about the state of the substance and environment but also enables multi-hop wireless communications.

  • The Internet of Things From RFI

With more than two billion terminals in commercial operation world-wide, wire- less and mobile technologies have enabled a first wave of pervasive communication systems and applications. Still, this is ONLY the beginning as wireless technologies such as RFID are currently contemplated with a deployment potential of tens of billions of tags and a virtually unlimited application potential. A recent ITU report depicts a scenario of “Internet of things” — a world in which billions of objects will report their location, identity, and history over wireless connections.

  • Fundamentals_of_Global_Positioning_System2

In this new edition of the book, ONLY minor changes were made to the original nine chapters but three new chapters treat topics of increasing interest to GPS users and equipment developers. One topic, improving the GPS receiver sensi- tivity may extend their operations into buildings, which is becoming important for emergency rescue and urban warfare.
