This document provides guidelines and describes how to easily port S60 2nd Edition C++ applications to S60 3rd Edition. The document has been written based on experiences of porting regular S60 2nd Edition applications, such as the S60 Platform: POP/IMAP Example [4] that can be Downloaded from Forum Nokia. Code snippets from the example are shown in Chapter 8, “Application build changes,” and in Appendix A, “Code example." In addition, Appendix B, "Commonly used functions that require capabilities," and Appendix C, "Commonly used interfaces that have been changed or removed," provide useful information on some frequently used functions and interfaces in third-party applications.

MPI stands for the Message Passing Interface. Written by the MPI Forum (a large committee comprising of a cross-section between industry and research representatives), MPI is a standardized API typically used for parallel and/or distributed computing. The MPI standard is comprised of 2 documents: MPI-1 (published in 1994) and MPI-2 (published in 1996). MPI-2 is, for the most part, additions and extensions to the original MPI-1 specification. The MPI-1 and MPI-2 documents can be Downloaded from the official MPI Forum web site: http://www.mpi-forum.org/. Open MPI is an open source, freely available implementation of both the MPI-1 and MPI-2 documents. The Open MPI software achieves high performance the Open MPI project is quite receptive to community input.

To help you in writing an LL grammar, we have developed a tool to analyze a grammar and determine if it is LL(1). A jar file containing the class files can be Downloaded here. Place this jar file in your class path before running the analyzer. LLAnalyze requires JDK 1.2. In the CSUGLAB, use g:\jdk1.2.2\bin\java (NT) or /usr/local/jdk1.2.1 (Solaris). You can also look at the source code for LLAnalyze. JLex is required to build it.
