This example implements a gameport translator on the PIC16C765. The firmware translates a gaming device plugged into the gameport to a USB gaming device. The firmware is set up to translate the DexxaTM eight-button gamepad. Changes to the firmware will be necessary for a different gaming device.

Parallel port access should still work if you have the Linux ppdev driver (patch for 2.2.17 is in the kernel directory, ppdev is standard in 2.4 kernels). YSS915 (KP2V2) is an LSI for processing Karaoke voice signals. This LSI has an A/D converter (1 channel) for the microphone echo, and a memory for the microphone echo and key control. These features allow achieving the functions needed for the Karaoke system by using only one LSI chip. As for the microphone echoes, many other types of echoes are available in addition to ordinary ones so that YSS915 is applicable to various uses. In addition to these Karaoke programs, YSS915 is able to provide the Movie & Music programs, with which the surround effect is applied to the movie and music sources for giving the users more enjoyment. YSS915 is pin compatible with and register compatible with YSS903 (KP2V).

Most code samples included on this CD were developed with Microsoft Visual C++ version 5.0 and the Microsoft Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++ version 5.0. The Sspi and Crypto samples were developed with Microsoft Visual C++ version 6.0 and the Microsoft Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++ 6.0. The code in sample applications is ported for a Handheld PC, but the programming concepts that are presented apply to all Windows CE-based platforms.

Wavelets have widely been used in many signal and image processing applications. In this paper, a new serial-parallel architecture for wavelet-based image compression is introduced. It is based on a 4-tap wavelet transform, which is realised using some FIFO memory modules implementing a pixel-level pipeline architecture to compress and decompress images. The real filter calculation over 4 · 4 window blocks is done using a tree of carry save adders to ensure the high speed processing required for many applications. The details of implementing both compressor and decompressor sub-systems are given. The primarily analysis reveals that the proposed architecture, implemented using current VLSI technologies, can process a video stream in real time.

RTEMS (Real-Time Executive for Multiprocessor Systems) is a free open source real-time operating system designed for embedded systems. The acronym RTEMS initially stood for Real-Time Executive for Missile Systems, then became Real-Time Executive for Military Systems before changing to its current meaning. RTEMS development began in the late 1980s with early versions of RTEMS available via ftp as early as 1993. OAR Corporation is currently managing the RTEMS project in cooperation with a Steering Committee which includes user representatives.
