A MATLAB GUI platform for realizing the radiation pattern of narrowband beamformer with random array geometry. User can specify the array geometry, directions of incoming signals, noise power, and the type of beamformer. Useful for gaining insight ABOUT collaborative beamforming in sensor networks and random arrays. You need both randomarray.fig and randomarray.m to work.

A "code-what"? Unless you have spent some time working in the area of reverse engineering, chances are you have not heard of the term "codecave" before. If you have heard of it, you might not have read a clear definition of it or quite understand what it is or why it is useful. I have even asked seasoned assembly programmers ABOUT the term before and most of them had not heard of it. If it is new to you, do not worry, you are not the only one. It is a term that is scarcely used and is only useful in a reverse engineering context. Furthermore, is it "codecave" or "code cave"? I am not quite sure, but I will try my best to refer to it consistently as a "codecave". A space may sneak in there from time to time

To review what a metaball is, and how to render them and to describe a new optimization I ve made for rendering metaballs. For complex scenes, it can render hundreds of times faster, though I m certain others have discovered this trick as well. It does very slightly change the characteristic shape of the blobs, but there is no loss in image quality whatsoever. (I actually developed all this ABOUT two years ago, but just now felt like writing it all down, and had the time!)

All of Java s Input/Output (I/O) facilities are based on streams, which provide simple ways to read and write data of different types. Java provides many different kinds of streams, each with its own application. The universe of streams is divided into four large categories: input streams and output streams, for reading and writing binary data and readers and writers, for reading and writing textual (character) data. You re almost certainly familiar with the basic kinds of streams--but did you know that there s a CipherInputStream for reading encrypted data? And a ZipOutputStream for automatically compressing data? Do you know how to use buffered streams effectively to make your I/O operations more efficient? Java I/O, 2nd Edition has been updated for Java 5.0 APIs and tells you all you ever need to know ABOUT streams--and probably more.

mkdosfs - Make DOS file system utilty. I wrote this, partially to complement the dosfsck utility written by Werner Almesberger (who graciously gave me some pointers when I asked for some advice ABOUT writing this code), and also to avoid me having to boot DOS just to create data partitions (I use Linux to back up DOS :-) ).

This article describes how to consume Web services in Java 1.5.0 using the new JAX-WS 2.0 API (JSR 228). Developers around the world, including me, have always complained ABOUT the hard ways to work in Java to consume even a Web service as simple as adding two numbers. However, with JAX-WS 2.0 API now available in core Java in JDK 1.5.0, life is simple like never before.

observable distribution grid are investigated. A distribution grid is observable if the state of the grid can be fully determined. For the simulations, the modified 34-bus IEEE test feeder is used. The measurements needed for the state estimation are generated by the ladder iterative technique. Two methods for the state estimation are analyzed: Weighted Least Squares and Extended Kalman Filter. Both estimators try to find the most probable state based on the available measurements. The result is that the Kalman filter mostly needs less iterations and calculation time. The disadvantage of the Kalman filter is that it needs some foreknowlegde ABOUT the state.

RFID, the wireless technology that has helped millions of people around the world to protect their property and make their workplaces safer is now in danger of being viewed as a security risk. Ray Stanton examines the love-hate relationship between people and Radio Frequency Identification [RFID] tags and highlights the need for informed debate ABOUT the privacy issues the technology raises.
