These directories contain the JPEGtool package of Octave and Matlab
scripts used to study aspects of JPEG (or JPEG-like) image compression,
along with sample images and documentation.

The documentation is excerpted from

   Introduction to Information Theory and Data Compression,
   Darrel Hankerson, Greg A. Harris, and Peter D. Johnson Jr,

and may be copied freely for non-profit educational use provided that it
