To use WordPerfect's mail/merge feature you should set
this option to "nl".

Enter the sequence of decimal codes  that  will  place
the  printer  into  the mode desired (e.g. 16 pitch or
"NLQ" - Near Letter Quality) See your  printer  manual
for ASCII control codes.

For example:    sending  'ESC F' to the IBM Proprinter
will turn EMPHASIZED PRINT ON.  This would  correspond
to  entering decimal 27 then 70 into the printer setup
string.  A code of zero "0" cannot be  entered  as  it
signifies the end of the escape string.

What  follows  is  a  short, incomplete list of common
ASCII decimal codes.

If you wish to send an initialization  string  to  the
printer  every  time a report is printed answer "y" to
the question.

If you answer  "n",  CONTACT  PLUS  will  not  send  a
printer string.

Enter "1"  - for LPT1:, "2" for LPT2:  or "3" for LPT3
as a printer port.

CONTACT  PLUS  doesn't  currently  support  a   serial
printer  port,  however,  you can direct the output of
the report using the "capturefile"  option  and  print
the report from DOS upon exiting CONTACT PLUS.

Enter  the number of columns that you want the printer
to start printing.  I.e. if you enter 5, CONTACT  PLUS
will advance 5 spaces on each printed line.

Press  "y"  and  CONTACT  PLUS will pause between each
form allowing you to change sheets  of  paper  without
having to press the off-line key on your printer.

This  is  handy  when  printing  individual  sheets or
rolodex cards.

Use  the  arrow keys to select the database to delete.
Press ENTER  when  the  highlight  bar  is  over  your
choice.    You   cannot   delete  the  currently  open
database.

The database will be PERMANENTLY deleted.

Use the arrow keys  to  select  the  SOURCE  database.
Press  ENTER  when  the  highlight  bar  is  over  the
database of your choice.

The data records will be copied from this database.

Enter  'Y'  to  delete  this   database   permanently.

Use  the  arrow  keys  to  select the TARGET database.
Press ENTER  when  the  highlight  bar  is  over  your
choice.

Data  records  from the SOURCE database will be copied
to this database. Once the copy  is  started  you  may
press ESC which will stop the copy operation.

Enter  "l"  for  last  name, "c" for company name, "1"
for user defined field 1  and  "2"  for  user  defined
field number 2.

The   records  will  be  sorted  in  alphabetic  order
according to the sort selection.

In order to print the report  press  ESC.    You  will
then   be  prompted  for  confirmation  to  print  the
report.

Enter  a  code  or  codes  in  which  to  select   the
records.

For example:

   To select: "a,d and c", enter: "adc"

   To select all records, enter: "."

Enter  "l"  for  last  name, "z" for zip code, "i" for
city name,  "c"  for  company  name  and  "a"  if  ALL
records will be printed.

The  "From  name"  and  "Thru" fields will specify the
range of selection.

Example:

If you want to select  a  single  record,  "SmithJoe",
enter  "l"  for  last  name  selection  at  the  "Name
selected" prompt.  Then at the "From name" and  "Thru"
prompts enter  "SmithJoe"  and  "SmithJoe".    CONTACT
PLUS is NOT case sensitive, so "smithjoe" will  do  as
well.

To  select  all  contacts with last name starting with
"r", enter "r" at "From name" and "r"  at  the  "Thru"
prompts.

To  select all contacts within certain zip code areas,
enter "z" for zip code and enter  "87"  thru  "88"  at
the range fields.

To  select  all  contacts  in  a certain city, say Los
Angeles, enter "Los Angeles" in  both  FROM  and  THRU
fields.

Enter  the  starting  name  of  the  field you want to
select.  For example, if we want to print out  a  list
of  contacts with last names from "a" to "g" enter "a"
in the From name field, and  enter  "g"  in  the  Thru
name field.

If  the  zip  code field was selected, enter the first
few digits of the starting zip code.

Enter the ending name in  alphabetic  order  for  this
field.

Enter  "1",  "2",  or  "3"  for the user defined dates
respectively.  Enter "a" for ALL contacts if you  want
all contacts  printed.   CONTACT PLUS will print those
contacts whose dates fall within a certain range.

For example, if one of the date  fields  is  specified
as  a NEXT CONTACT date, we might wish to select those
individuals we need to contact tomorrow, or next  week
or next Friday or next month.

entered  into  CONTACT  PLUS,  they   are   there   to
highlight the proper response.

   To select contacts for Nov 23, 1987

   December enter: 1Dec87 and 31Dec87

Shortcut examples (using date arithmetic):

   '.'       - today
   '+fri'    - next Friday
   '-wed'    - last Wednesday
   '-1m'     - last month
   '1-1m'    - 1st of last month
   '+1w'     - next week
   '+2w+fri' - 2 weeks from next Friday

Enter a  new  date for the system.  Since CONTACT PLUS
makes extensive use  of  the  date  and  time,  it  is
important  that  the system date and time be correctly
set.

Both the date and time  are  read  from  the  computer
when first starting up.

CONTACT  PLUS  has  the ability to process dates using
date arithmetic  as  well  as  accepting  dates  in  a
variety of formats.

The  quotes  in the examples that follow are not to be
entered  into  CONTACT  PLUS,  they   are   there   to
highlight the proper response.

Examples:

   To select a date of Nov 23, 1989
   Simply enter: "23Nov89", or "112389".
   If the current year is 1989, simply enter
   the month and day.  If the current month
   is November as well, only enter "23".

Shortcut examples (using date arithmetic):

   To change the date to tomorrow: "+1"
   Last week: "-1w"
   1st of this month: "1"
   Last day of last month: "1-1"
   Next Friday: "+fri"
   2 weeks from next Tuesday: "+tue+2w"

   Today's date is always measured from the
   date CONTACT PLUS thinks it is.  You should
   set the date when booting the system
   up.

selection criteria.  The reports will now be  sent  to
the screen or printer.

Enter "n" or ESC to go back to the previous menu.

Press   ENTER  to  continue  editing  the  sort/select
fields.

Set this field if you want to speed up the process  of
adding new  entries to CONTACT PLUS.  When you type in
"a" at the CONTACT menu header page,  the  CITY  field
will automatically be set to the default.

field will automatically be set to the default.

dial phone.  Enter "p" if it  is  a  pulse  or  rotary
