  • Contamination+and+ESD+Control

Contamination and electrostatic discharge (ESD) are now becoming recognized as factors affecting yield and reliability in an ever-increasing number of industries. Whereas contam- ination traditionally was recognized as affecting the semiconductor, disk drive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries, today such industries as automobile and food production are also discovering the benefits of contamination control. ESD control has experienced a similar growth in applications.

  • Electro Static Discharge Understand

Static electricity is the most ancient form of electricity known to humans. More than 2000 years ago, the Greeks recognized the attraction between certain mate- rials when they were rubbed together; indeed, the word electricity comes from the Greek elektron, which means amber. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, several key experiments were conducted to understand and measure static electricity. But the discovery of electromagnetism and its formidable break- through has rapidly outgrown interest in static electricity. Even today, where the industrial applications of static electricity are not insignificant, they cannot compare with those of electromagnetism and electrodynamics.

  • Smart+Power+Grids

The electrical power grid is often referred to as one of the most complex man- made systems on Earth. Its importance to all aspects of our daily lives, economic stability, and national security cannot be overstated, and the need for an updated, secure, resilient, and smarter power grid infrastructure is increasingly recognized and supported by policy makers and market forces.

  • RFID+Systems

RFID networks are currently recognized as one a research area of priority. Research activities related to RFID technology have been booming recently. A number of ongoing projects are being funded in Europe, Asia, and North America. According to leading market analysts, the development of the RFID market is projected to increase from approximately $3 billion in 2005 to $25 billion in 2015. Several countries have dedicated innovation programs to support and develop RFID systems and related technologies: the RFID initiative in Taiwan, Ubiquitous Japan and the NSF SBIR program in the USA. The EU has recently advertised its Strategic Research Roadmap concerning the Internet of Things, which first of all refers to the RFID technology before being extended to commu- nicating devices as in M2M (Machine to Machine). In this roadmap, several application domains have been identified:
