This white paper discusses how market trends, the need for increased productivity, and new legislation have accelerated the use of safety systems in industrial machinery. This TÜV-qualified FPGA design methodology is changing the paradigms of safety designs and will greatly reduce development effort, system complexity, and time to market. This allows FPGA users to design their own customized safety controllers and provides a significant competitive advantage over traditional microcontroller or ASIC-based designs. Introduction The basic motivation of deploying functional safety systems is to ensure safe operation as well as safe behavior in cases of failure. Examples of functional safety systems include train brakes, proximity sensors for hazardous areas around machines such as fast-moving robots, and Distributed control systems in process automation equipment such as those used in petrochemical plants. The International Electrotechnical Commission’s standard, IEC 61508: “Functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems,” is understood as the standard for designing safety systems for electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic (E/E/PE) equipment. This standard was developed in the mid-1980s and has been revised several times to cover the technical advances in various industries. In addition, derivative standards have been developed for specific markets and applications that prescribe the particular requirements on functional safety systems in these industry applications. Example applications include process automation (IEC 61511), machine automation (IEC 62061), transportation (railway EN 50128), medical (IEC 62304), automotive (ISO 26262), power generation, distribution, and transportation. 图Figure 1. 第一章 传输线理论一 传输线原理二 微带传输线三 微带传输线之不连续分析第二章 被动组件之电感设计与分析一 电感原理二 电感结构与分析三 电感设计与模拟四 电感分析与量测传输线理论与传统电路学之最大不同，主要在于组件之尺寸与传导电波之波长的比值。当组件尺寸远小于传输线之电波波长时，传统的电路学理论才可以使用，一般以传输波长（Guide wavelength）的二十分之ㄧ（λ/20）为最大尺寸，称为集总组件（Lumped elements）；反之，若组件的尺寸接近传输波长，由于组件上不同位置之电压或电流的大小与相位均可能不相同，因而称为散布式组件（Distributed elements）。 由于通讯应用的频率越来越高，相对的传输波长也越来越小，要使电路之设计完全由集总组件所构成变得越来越难以实现，因此，运用散布式组件设计电路也成为无法避免的选择。 当然，科技的进步已经使得集总组件的制作变得越来越小，例如运用半导体制程、高介电材质之低温共烧陶瓷（LTCC）、微机电（MicroElectroMechanical Systems, MEMS）等技术制作集总组件，然而，其中电路之分析与设计能不乏运用到散布式传输线的理论，如微带线（Microstrip Lines）、夹心带线（Strip Lines）等的理论。因此，本章以讨论散布式传输线的理论开始，进而以微带传输线为例介绍其理论与公式，并讨论微带传输线之各种不连续之电路，以作为后续章节之被动组件的运用。
