Dear Sir/Madam: <br>
At the request of linhujushi， an undergraduate student from the Department <br>
of Mechanics, I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation in support <br>
 of his application for admission and financial aid for his study in your De <br>
partment. <br>
大多数的推荐信都是这样开头的。 <br>
Mr.linhujushi has a great interest in Fluid Mechanics. Though I did not offe <br>
r lectures to undergraduate students, or had any contact with them, I could <br>
still see his strong desire to accompany my research group, an active group <br>
int the study of turbulence and two-phase flow in China. He first contacted <br>
me when he was a junior, asked my instructions for his further study and ask <br>
ed me if he could take part in my group. Because my group only chose graduat <br>
e students as research assistants, I just told him how he could improve his <br>
study in this discipline, and asked him to pursue his diploma under my group <br>
 after his graduation. <br>
我说过，要用兴趣来支撑我的整个application。我是没有什么学术背景的，所以这个我 <br>

们系最牛的老师，我只有从兴趣上入手来写。里面夸一夸他的research group，让他看 <br>
我这封信的时候也美一美。至于后面提到他的工作组不找本科生，还是为了把话题扯到 <br>
兴趣上埋伏笔。 <br>
However, Mr.linhujushi has a great goal. His career goal is to study more pr <br>
actical knowledge and do something to serve his hometown. He told me that th <br>
e Education System of China was different from that of U.S.A, and experience <br>
 of study under the two different systems would benefit him from the advanta <br>
ges of each individual one. "What's more, research could be done under the i <br>
nstruction of renowned faculty and be helped by state-of-the-art facilities. <br>
 Needless to say, it would be more convenient if I study in such countries a <br>
s the United States." I agreed with him. And I can see he is making every ef <br>
fort to improve his study in both Mechanics and English during his undergrad <br>
uate study. <br>
一个经典的however转折，就跳到我的兴趣上了。几句话过后，就开始说education sys <br>
tem，这是写给鬼子看的。里面引用我的话，是为了让这篇文字更人性，不要老是陈述性 <br>
的。这也是我的个性，玩一点花样。 <br>
In my opinion, the study of Mechanics can be quite monotonous and time consu <br>
ming, therefore interest is the best teacher if one would like to carry on. <br>
Mr.linhujushi is completely enchanted by the academic world, from the fundam <br>
ental theories to their applications. His interest would no doubt be the bes <br>
t reason for his future success in Fluid Mechanics and be the best reason fo <br>
r me to recommend him to your program. I would like to recommend his without <br>

 reservation for his admission and financial support to you program. I hope, <br>
 under your careful instructions, he would reach his summit in his study; an <br>
d I hope, with your long-rang views, he would develop something practical fo <br>
r the future, and could serve his hometown. <br>
重中之重是这一段，客观的说了这个课题的特殊性，和兴趣的作用，简直配合得天衣无 <br>
缝。然后什么推荐之类的话，就是大家都要写的东东了。 <br>
Further information would be provided upon request. <br>
这一句不可少，让鬼子知道这封推荐信不是晃点人的。 <br>
这里还有个笑话，本来我引用的里面有提到U。S。A，但是我又申请了加拿大的学校，一 <br>
不小心我把寄到美国的推荐信放到了给加拿大的里面，害的我拆了信封，模仿教授签名 <br>
。不知道那边是不是有看出来，我这里面有猫腻：） <br>

T'aime." Et si-t-un echeance faut il ajoute, J'espere----dix mille ans. <br>
