I am a graduate in Department of Civil Engineering, Zhejiang University <br>
, P.R.China. My major is Geotechnical Engineering. <br>
I have read your papers which are published in "Journal of Geotechnical <br>
and Geoenvironmental Engineering" about the SW model to solve the lateral d <br>
isplacement of the soil. <br>
I am very interested in it and also have many problems that I can't und <br>
erstand. I <br>
need your help, So I write to you. <br>
Problem1: <br>
how to decide the depth h? <br>
You have said in your paper that the depth of the passive wedge depends on t <br>
he global equilibrium between the loaded pile and the developed passive wedg <br>
e and this requires a solution for equation . <br>
I don't know whether I catch on the meaning of your paper or not? how can I <br>
use iterative process to determine the geometry of the wedge, in other words <br>
---the parameter of and h. I think(for example in sand) we can obtain the <br>
value of though triaxial test and the experimental equation , and if the <br>
is supposed, then = , strain (use experimenta results(Norris 1977)),Youn <br>
g's modulus E= are also obtained, and we can obtain h which satisfies the g <br>
lobal equilibrium <br>
,( are the areas) then we can also obtain the parameters of Ai , and dete <br>
rmine the . Use , we can solve the equation of and can obtain another h, <br>
then iterate these steps to solve the problem. Is it right? <br>
Problem2: <br>
SW model is a very impressive mean to solve the problem of lateral displacem <br>
ent of the pile. I am very interested in it and want to do some research wit <br>
h this model to solve the pile group, but I can't find some references about <br>
SW model in my Univesity's library. So can you mail or email me a copy of t <br>
