When you feel that your essay is in good shape -- or you have read it <br>

many times that you've completely lost perspective -- find several <br>
people <br>
to read over your personal statement. It's best if you can find one <br>
to <br>
read for the technical aspects of your writing and two to read for <br>
content. <br>
?nbsp; Select your proofreader carefully. Few things make as <br>
immediate and <br>
as negative an impression as misspellings, incorrect grammar and <br>
clumsy <br>
sentence structure. Don't trust your computer's spell-checker, <br>
either. <br>
Get a real human being. <br>
?nbsp; Your first content reader should be an individual who is very <br>
familiar <br>
with your background and who can tell you whether you've adequately <br>
conveyed your strengths; the second should be someone who does not <br>
know <br>
you as well and can spot any areas in your essay which are unclear to <br>
him or her (and would therefore be unclear to the admissions <br>
committee). <br>

the revised draft and repeat the process. <br>
