<p><span class="normal">This tutorial will show you how to create a new banner ad. <BR>

<p class="normal">1. Select <b><font color="#000080">"Add Banner Ad"</font></b> from the control panel menu. </p>

This will open the <b><font color="#000080">"Add New Banner"</font></b> screen.</p>

<p class="normal">2. All of the fields must be completed. Here is an explanation of each field.</p>

<td width="20%" class="normal">Advertiser</td>
<td width="80%" class="normal">Select the name of the advertiser that is placing this banner advert, from the pull-down list. If you cannot find the advertiser in this list then the advertiser must be added using the <a href="add_advertiser.html">Add Advertiser</a> option. </td>

<td class="normal">Banner Name </td>
<td class="normal">Enter a unique name to identify this banner advert from other banners adverts.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="normal">Banner Ad Group </td>
<td class="normal">Select the banner ad group to which this banner will belong, from the pull-down list. Every banner ad must belong to a group. If you cannot find the banner ad group in the list then a group must be created using the <a href="add_group.html">Add Banner Group</a> option. </td>
</tr>

<td class="normal">Active</td>
<td class="normal">Select whether this banner advert should be active or not. You may wish to create a banner advert and to temporaily place it in an inactive state for later usage. </td>

<tr>
<td class="normal">Limits</td>
<td><p class="normal">Select <b><font color="#000080">"Impressions"</font></b> to set a maximum number of times that the banner is shown.<br>
Select <b><font color="#000080">"Clicks" </font></b>to stop showing the banner after it has been clicked on a specified number of times.<br>
Select <b><font color="#000080">"No limits"</font></b> to show the banner continuously (based on start and end date only), regardless of the number of clicks or impressions. </p></td>

<td class="normal">Max Impressions/Clicks</td>
<td class="normal">If you set the limit to <b><font color="#000080">"Impressions"</font></b> or
<b><font color="#000080">"Clicks"</font></b>, enter the maximum number of impressions or clicks. </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="normal">Monthly</td>
<td class="normal">If you set the limit to <b><font color="#000080">"Impressions"</font></b> or
<b><font color="#000080">"Clicks"</font></b>, select whether the quota entered under
<b><font color="#000080">"Max Impressions/Clicks"</font></b> is a monthly quota or if it is a total quota for the entire period of the advertisement.</td>
</tr>

<td class="normal">Start Date </td>
<td class="normal">Enter the date that the banner advert should start to be displayed. The date format is YYYY-MM-DD </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="normal">End Date </td>
<td class="normal">Enter the date that the banner advert should stop being displayed. The date format is YYYY-MM-DD</td>

<td class="normal">Weight</td>
<td class="normal">The weight determines the frequency that this banner advert will be included as part of the banner group. Enter "1" to display the banner advert every time the page is displayed. If, for example, you would like the advert to display every second time the page is visited, enter "2".</td>

<font size="1">Note:</font></span><font size="1"><br>
a. It is advisable to have at least one banner advert that has a
<font color="#000080"><b>"No Limits" </b></font>setting and a weight of "1" in order to ensure that something is always displayed, after the other banner adverts have reached their limits.<br>
<br>
b. In some cases, a banner may exceed the click or impression limit slightly. This is because the limit is checked upon entering the page. As the banners display, the impressions will continue to count however once a banner ad is displayed in a page it will continue to display in the rotation of banners while the viewer remains on that page, regardless as to whether the impression limit has been reached.</font></p>
<p class="normal"><br>
3. Press <b><font color="#000080">"Save" </font></b>to save this banner ad.</p>
<p class="normal">4. You will now be taken to the <font color="#000080"><b>"Edit Banner"
</b></font>screen where you may upload an image for this banner advert in the <span class="normalbold">
<font size="2" color="#000080">Upload Banner Image</font></span> section. </p>

5. Enter the full URL that should be opened upon clicking the banner advert.</p>
<p class="normal">6. Press the <font color="#000080"><b>"Browse"</b></font> button to browse for the image that should be uploaded on your your disk or network.</p>
<p class="normal">7. Press <font color="#000080"><b>Save/Upload </b></font>to upload the image and save the link.</p>

</span><font size="1">a. Banner advert images can be in non-progressive JPG and SWF format only. SWF movies may be used as well. If you already have banner adverts as animated gifs, you may convert these to SWF using a third party conversion tool such as <a href="http://segon.com/gif2swf.html" target="_blank">Gif2Swf</a>.<br>
<br>
b. It is advisable that all the banner adverts that belong to the same group are of the same size. This will create a uniform look.</font><br>
