<img bORDEr="0" widTH="94" HEight="149" src="graphics/intfig03.gif" alt="graphics/intfig03.gif"><p><b>Paul F. Dubois</b> graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in mathematics. He obtained a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California at Davis in 1970. After six years of teaching and research, in 1976 he joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He has held a variety of positions at LLNL as a technical leader in numerical mathematics and computer science. In 1999 he joined the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison in the Atmospheric Sciences Division, where he is putting Python to work creating analysis tools for climate modelers.</p>
<p>Paul抯 work includes pioneering work on computational steering and the use of object technology for scientific programming. He is the Editor of the Scientific Programming Department for the journal <i>IEEE Computing in Science and Engineering</i>.</p>
<imG boRder="0" Width="108" HeigHT="195" SRc="graphics/intfig04.gif" alt="graphics/intfig04.gif"><P><B>Mats Wichmann</B> is a consultant and trainer. A 1980 computer science graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, he managed operating systems development for several UNIX companies in the 1980s before becoming a consultant. His search for a programming language that spans the range from scripting system administration tasks to developing serious applications has found a happy conclusion in Python. Mats is the author of a Python training course for a major training provider. Living in Questa, New Mexico, he can be reached at <A href="mailto:m.wichmann@ieee.org">m.wichmann@ieee.org</A>.</P>
