Quickstart for Delphi 5:

select Components -> Install Component in the IDE menu

name of unit:      ...../barcode.pas
name of package:   ...../dclusr50.dpk

Press the "ok" Button.

Yes. The sourcecode does not rely on any language specific features.
It will probably compile under Delphi 8 and higher.


> Does your barcode component works with Kylix ? 

Yes, my barcode component does not use any special Windows API
functions; so it should work with Kylix (untested).

No.
The demo can be compiled without installing the component;
but the units barcode.pas and barcode2.pas must be present in
the project directory.

there are 2 resource files (comes with fbarcode.zip):

barcode.d16  - for Delphi 1
barcode.d32  - for Delphi 2-7

one of this resource files is included in
'barcode.pas'.

remove the file 'barcode.dcr' from your package and
delete this file because Delphi adds this file
to your package if it exists.

It depends on the resolution of your destination canvas.
The height of the barcode is not a problem, but the width.
Every line of a barcode needs one or more dots on the canvas,
but there are no fractional parts.

Because of this limitation the width of a barcode can only
have distinct values.

There higher the resolution of printer, the better the
approach to the desired barcode width.

Nein, eine ganz bestimmte definierte Breite ist technisch
nicht m鰃lich.
Grund: 
   ein Barcode besteht aus schmalen und breiten Strichen.
   Beide Strichbreiten k鰊nen nur ein Vielfaches eines Pixels sein.
   (es gibt keine halben Pixel)
   Damit kann der gesamte Barcode auch nur ganz bestimmte Breiten
   einnehmen.

Je h鰄er die Aufl鰏ung des Ziel-Canvas, umso feiner kann die Breite
des Barcodes 黚er die Eigenschaft "Modul" gesteuert werden.

Bei neueren Versionen (z.Zt. 1.23) der Komponente ist die
Eigenschaft "Width" beschreibbar.
Bei Zuweisung eines Wertes an Width wird versucht, die
Gesamtbreite so gut wie m鰃lich zu treffen, indem das Property
"Modul" entsprechend ver鋘dert wird.
