can affect you</span></strong></p>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman">There are many health risks associated with
smoking. Some of the dangers of smoking are outlined below: </span>
</p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide
temporarily increases heart rate and blood pressure, placing strain on the heart
and blood vessels. In people with arterial disease this can lead to heart attacks
and stroke. It also reduces blood flow and supply of oxygen to the feet and hands.
</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Tar contains many gases and chemicals,
including substances known to cause cancer. It also stains teeth and fingers. </span>
</li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Carbon monoxide robs the muscles, brain
and body tissue of oxygen, making the whole body work harder, especially the heart.
Carbon monoxide is also strongly linked with the development of coronary heart disease.
</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Smoking affects the skin, making it become
dry and grey. Thereby, stimulating the aging process with wrinkles around the eyes
and mouth developing much earlier as smoking damages the elastic fibres, and the
skin sags making wrinkles appear earlier. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Second-hand smoke can increase children’s
risk of respiratory infections, middle ear infection, meningococcal infections,
asthma attacks, and SIDS. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">The lack of oxygen caused by smoking
makes it harder to exercise and reduces the benefits that exercise can have. </span>
</li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Smokers have more coughs and colds than
non-smokers and take longer to feel well again. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Men who smoke may suffer impotence due
to problems with blood supply to the penis. Smokers may produce less sperm and decrease
the quality of sperm produced than non-smokers. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Times New Roman">Smoking during pregnancy increases the
risk of miscarriages, premature births and lower birth-weights. </span></li>
