卵巢癌是妇科常见的癌症之一，通常早期发现会有不错的治愈率。不过因为大部份的卵巢癌在早期都没有明显症状，所以大部份的妇女当被发现是卵巢癌的时候，通常都已经扩散，成为较晚期的癌症。因此，卵巢癌症的死亡率占妇科癌症中相当高的比例。 工业污染、遗传是病变主因 大部份的卵巢癌都没有特别的原因，不过，在少数医学报告当中发现，工业国家出现较多的卵巢癌。因此，工业污染可能是造成体内细胞致癌的主要因素，但大部份的卵巢癌都找不到明确的原因。另外，卵巢在排卵时，卵巢表皮开启、密合的过程中产生的伤害，也一直被认为是卵巢癌症的主要原因之一。还有，容易病变的遗传基因，同样也是造成罹患卵巢癌的因素之一。 癌细胞扩散途径广泛 卵巢癌的扩散，一般是经由恶性细胞扩散到腹腔内的其它器官，如腹膜表面、大、小肠表面、大网膜表面、还有膀胱、横膈膜的表面，尤其常见的是扩散到右侧横膈膜下方及大网膜，因为腹腔内腹水的吸收是由上处两部位吸收，所以癌细胞容易转移到横膈膜下方和大网膜上。当然也有其它的扩散方式是从血液以及淋巴腺的扩散。 早期症状不明显 早期卵巢癌通常没有明显的症状，大部份的症状是腹部不舒服、疼痛、骨盆腔有一些压力、背痛以及轻微的恶心及食欲不好，有少部份会有异常的子宫出血。正因为早期的卵巢癌不易被察觉，因此，被发现之后的卵巢癌通常已经接近末期。卵巢癌在预防检查方面就如同肺癌，健保在各种检查方式并不给付的情况下，正在蔓延的癌细胞常常被忽略。 谁是高危险群 卵巢癌的检查包括超音波、计算机断层、癌症指针、病理学等。民众一般并不会选择多项检查，因为费用太昂贵，健保不给付。所以，民众如果属于高危险群，在做健康检查时最好不要忽略超音波、计算机断层、癌症指针、病理学等检查方式，几种方法同时使用的检查准确率可以有80%~90%。 高危险群：卵巢癌并没有一定的发生因素，如果近亲(一、二等亲)有人罹患卵巢癌，或是从事化学工业的妇女，最好提高警觉。
