女性到了更年期，由于内分泌系统功能紊乱，有些女性会出现一种莫名其妙的水肿，它表现为轻重不一的全身性水肿，常有缓解和加重交替出现的现象，可持续数年或数十年，缠绵不愈，十分恼人。但通过医生进一步检查，心、肝肾等主要器官都正常，血、尿、便常规化验检查也没有什么异常发现。医生把这种找不出病因的水肿，叫做特发性水肿。 <br />特发性水肿的特点主要是水肿的发生与体位有着密切的关系。在长时间站立或活动、吃盐后出现或加重，平卧位休息后又逐渐减轻至消失。水肿常发生在早晨，颜面及手部比较明显，下午以下肢和足部显著。此外，病人早晚体重变化较大，就寝前体重比起床时可平均增加1公斤或更多。特发性水肿虽然病程绵长，但大部分是可以自愈的。<br /> 目前治疗这种病的方法是以心理治疗为主。应鼓励患者解除精神负担，保持平静和愉快的心情，这对消退浮肿和改善其他症状都是十分有益的。当浮肿严重时，应卧床休息一段时间，并限制食盐的摄取量，同时要服少量镇静剂。下肢浮肿严重时，可穿弹力袜。当一般治疗无效时，可在医生指导下口服较温和的利尿药。<br /> 在水肿期内，饭菜最好要清淡，每天食盐控制在3-5克。禁忌油脂、海鱼、虾、蟹等。蔬菜中要忌用大量的葱、韭、姜、大蒜等辛辣食品，南瓜、雪里红、生冷水果等也应忌食。<br /> 水肿消退后，短时期内也应注意坚持低盐饮食，但可适当地增加一些营养丰富的食物。但要少吃或不吃富含胆固醇和饱和脂肪酸的食物，要选择植物油，如菜籽油、葵花籽油，吃些玉米面及蔬菜、水果、瘦肉、鱼类等少胆固醇食物，多食大豆制品，如豆腐、豆腐脑、豆浆、豆腐干，因为它们是很好的植物性蛋白。近年来，国外有关研究发现，自然界有許多植物就含有許多与女性荷尔蒙化学结构相似的物质，它们对于人体一样会有生理活性，这些化学物质广泛存在于豆类、谷类及水果、蔬菜等植物雌激素食品，如大豆、小麦、黑豆、扁豆、葵花子、梨、洋葱等。其中最有名的是大豆。大豆中含有与女性雌激素相似的天然物质，所以可以当作一個很好的雌激素替代物
