I. Searching for new ASEM-51 Versions

Many users that have already got a copy of ASEM-51, have problems to
decide, whether this is the latest version or not!
Users who have full access to the internet, may search for it with Archie.
But if you can only send and receive emails (as e.g. German Btx users),
there is also a convenient way to search the whole internet for new ASEM-51
versions: Send an email to one (or more) of the following email addresses:

Leave the subject field blank, and send exactly the following text:
set search sub
set sortby filename
find asem51
If your mailer doesn't allow to leave the subject field blank, specify
the following subject:
set maxhits 1000
Since the archie-mail servers are processing the subject line as first
line of the message, you may specify any suitable Archie command!
Some time later, you should get an email with an Archie listing of ftp sites
and locations, where files named *asem51*.* (upper or lower case) are stored.
Since the ASEM-51 version number should be part of the file name, you can
see, whether a new version is available somewhere or not.
If you don't get an answer within one day or so, try another archie-mail
server!
II. How to get Updates
----------------------
There are several ways to get an ASEM-51 update:
Look for the latest version on BBS, ftp servers, and shareware CD-ROMs,
or write directly to the author.
II.1 ftp Servers

Be sure to specify the version number of your ASEM-51 distribution, and do
not forget your full name, home address, and email address (if any)!
Bug reports, application notes, suggestions, questions, and comments welcome!
The source code of ASEM-51 is not available!
III. Bug Reports
----------------
Although ASEM-51 is no brand-new product, it is probably not yet quite
perfect! Whenever you experience problems with it, please do not hesitate
to send a brief error report to the following home address of the author,

An error report via snail-mail or email should ALWAYS contain the following
information:
- the user's full name and home address (plus email addresses if any)
- the ASEM-51 version number and host system (DOS, OS/2, Windows, ... )
- a brief error description
- a list file page of a simplified 8051 demo program that shows the bug
If the program that causes the error, cannot be simplified to a short
demo example, please copy the following files (if applicable) to a DOS
diskette and send it to the author:
- original 8051 assembly source file
- all include files
- list file
- hex file
- binary file (in case of HEXBIN errors)
- capture file of console output (in case of runtime errors)
- other associated files (if any)
- your ASEM-51 distribution (in case it may be corrupted)
You will always get your floppy back as soon as possible with the latest
version of ASEM-51 that contains the bug fix, and (as a bonus) a collection
of the best PD/freeware/shareware 8051 development tools on it.

Every user that reports a bug, will get a free update of ASEM-51 as soon as
it is available. This is also valid for the best proposals for extensions
and improvements.
Please note: I know already that macros, relocatable segments, OMF-51
------------ object modules, a linker (with bank support), a library
manager, an 8051 simulator, a symbolic target debugger,
an 8051 disassembler, a real-time multitasking operating
system for the MCS-51 family, a C++ compiler, and an IDE
with multi-window-editor, hex-pocket-calculator and project
management would be nice!
