The model-free toolbox (mfBox)-----------------------------------Version 1.0 (10-Mar-2006)http://research.fabian.theis.namehttp://www-aglang.uni-regensburg.deThe model-free toolbox or mfBox for short is a simple to use Matlab toolbox for performingmodel-free analysis of multivariate data sets. Its graphical user interface enables users toeasily try out various model-free algorithms, together with additional pre- and postprocessingalgorithms and reliability analyses. The design of the toolbox is modular, so it can be easilyextended to include your algorithm of choice. It plugs into SPM and can be used to performmodel-free analysis of biomedical image time series such as fMRI or PET data sets, but can alsobe used stand-alone.The toolbox has been developed by Peter Gruber, Fabian J. Theis and Ingo Keck from the Signal Processing &Information Theory group at the Institute of Biophysics, University of Regensburg, Germany. Itis provided as free software subject to the GNU General Public License. Associated member ofthe mfBox development-team is Elmar Lang, who greatly helped during planning, development and testing. This toolbox is a by-product of our former BMBF-funded project 'ModKog', where we analyzedfunctional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans using information-theoretic methods. Thetoolbox provides, among others, the two novel algorithms mdSOBI and stJADE and stSOBI developedwithin this project, specifically fit to the structure of biomedical image time series. Formore details, please check out the page on biomedical applications.Features--------* advanced model-free analysis of multivariate data sets* powerful pre- and post-processing options* easy to use, but flexible and extensible* various component&result visualization tools* save, load and export your resultsInstallation------------If it is to be run from within SPM, just extract the toolbox into the folder 'toolbox'. Youshould have a subfolder mf_box. The program can be launched from the toolbox dropdown box inSPM. For usage outside of SPM but for fMRI analysis, just add SPM to your path and start thetoolbox by starting 'spm_mf_box' within the mfBox-main folder.
