Also, if you don'twant a reply, just say so.

Forwards

If you have some Linux joke, anti-Microsoft joke, or whatever otherkind of forward you think should be worth reading, please send them to myother e-mail address, <AHREF="mailto:joshuago@hotmail.com">joshuago@hotmail.com, which is setaside for the sole purpose of forwards that friends and relativessend. Being a Hotmail account, I do not really care what happens to it or what mail is sent there.

If you send the forward to my main e-mail address, <AHREF="mailto:jgo@local.net">jgo@local.net, I might get reallyworked up and reply in anger, but usually I'll just read the message andkindly remind whoever sent the forward to send it to my other address. I might even give your e-mail address to spammers. :-)

HTML E-mail

If convenient for you, I prefer not to get HTML e-mail. Although I haveNetscape Messenger to read e-mail, I use pine because it'sfaster.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

I usually hang out on #LinuxHelp on the Undernet IRC network, so if youneed to ask a question or just talk, check if I'm there as JoshTech. Ofcourse, if you need to ask, ask the others in the channel.

On weekends, I may be on for the whole day. Usually I'm on duringweekdays from between 7:00 pm Pacific time to 10:00 pm Pacific time.

Paragraphs

The most commonly encountered problem I can remember that really getsto me is when people write in one large paragraph instead of many smallerones. I prefer you do the latter. I did that once and the person I waswriting to complained about it. I didn't know why.

Although you may be able to follow when you write the e-mail, the otherperson, the one on the receiving end, might not be able to. I also wantpeople to write in separate paragraphs so that when I reply, I can replyto one paragraph at a time instead of replying to the entire hugeparagraph. It could become hard to follow when I write back in onelarge paragraph as well, not that I would be able to remember to reply to every single question you asked about or whatnot....

If you've already sent something, don't sweat it. I can sort it out andreformat your message when I reply, but it usually takes some extratime.

Problems Sending E-mail

If, for some reason, you can't send e-mail to me by normal means, tryusing the mail form on <AHREF="http://jgo.local.net">jgo.local.net, the <AHREF="guestbook.html">guestbook, or the helpform.
Replying

When you write a message to me, it's up to you whether you reply or not; I just appreciate it when people reply to what I sent. Yes, thatcan get tiring, but personally I like it when I see that I'm gettingmore than 4 messages. :)

Submissions and Suggestions

If you think that there's some information missing in one of the pagesand would like to send me a description of what you did, or would like tosuggest some stuff, go ahead and do so! However, there are some thingsthat I would like to bring out.

First of all, it would be nice if you could mention whether you wantyour name and e-mail address on the page and linked to, or if you want toremain anonymous. Mention the e-mail address you want it to link to; if itisn't specified then I'll just use the one that it is set to reply to. Yeah, you might sound a little snobby, but it saves me the trouble, really.

Second, if your suggestion paragraph is different from the message, separate it, and edit the paragraph to the best of your ability. Iwouldn't feel right editing your work. Of course, if you would like me tomake the corrections, say so; otherwise I'll just copy and paste. :)

That's about all that I can think of, for now...

Copyright © 1997-1999 <AHREF="mailto:jgo@local.net">Joshua Go (jgo@local.net).
