Rule:--Sid:9842--Summary:This event is generated when an attempt is made to exploit a known vulnerability in Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin.--Impact:Information gathering and system integrity compromise. Possible unauthorized administrative access to the server or application. Possible execution of arbitrary code of the attackers choosing in some cases.--Detailed Information:The Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin allows users to pass in parameters via a "#foo=bar"-style syntax in a URL.If stringent input checks are not performed by the application, it may also be possible for an attacker to retrieve sensitive data, execute system binaries or malicious code of the attackers choosing. The Adobe Acrobat Reader Plugin does not correctly process user-supplied input in the parameters supplied to a URI. This may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system.--Affected Systems:Adobe Acrobat Reader Plugin 7.0.8 and prior--Attack Scenarios:An attacker can supply a malicious link designed to steal information from a user clicking on that link.--Ease of Attack:Simple.
