Rule--Sid9840--Summary:This event is generated when an attempt is made to exploit a known vulnerability in Apple QuickTime.--Impact:Unknown.--Detailed Information:Apple QuickTime is prone to a scripting attack via the use of the HREFTrack parameter in a media file (.mov). A remote attacker could make use of this vulnerability to perform a cross site or cross zone scripting attack against a vulnerable machine.QuickTime files are composed of a number of tracks, each of which have some sort of (typically media) information in them. One possible track type is the HREF track, which allows a link in any file, web page, or piece of script to call a specific location in a movie.These tracks take the form in the file of:A<URL> T<frame>Where  * "A" is optional, and if present indicates that the URL is loaded automatically.  * <URL> is a valid URL of some sort, and may include a "script='foo'" parameter.  * " T" appears to be static and required  * <frame> may be blank, but is also required--Affected Systems:Apple, Quicktime Player 7.1.3 and priorApple, Quicktime Player 3--Attack Scenarios:An attacker needs to supply a specially crafted .mov file to be viewed by the application.--Ease of Attack:Simple.--False Positives:None known.--False Negatives:None known.--Corrective Action:Apply the appropriate vendor supplied patches.Upgrade to the latest non-affected version of the software.--Contributors:Sourcefire Vulnerability Research TeamAlex Kirk <alex.kirk@sourcefire.com>Nigel Houghton <nigel.houghton@sourcefire.com>--Additional References:--
