  <a name="1204634"> </a><font size=2  face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The sampling technique introduces uncertainty into flat profiling results, which become less reliable for functions which are hit less often. For example, a short function may never be displayed as a hit, although it may be executed frequently. Thus a result of no hits does not mean that a function has not been executed.</font>

  <a name="1204635"> </a><font size=2  face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The timing information in the profiling output is not exact because the sampling techniques used are subject to quantization errors. Also the sample period is not guaranteed, because the diagnostic controller may be performing other functions such as informs and so can reduce the sample frequency.</font>
