The tracing can be set to different levels to show different register values and details of memory accesses. Tracing may be set:</font>

<p> <font size=2 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><li ><a name="1204778"> </a>for the entire application using the <font size=2 face=Courier><strong>trace</strong></font> command line option,</font></p>
<p> <font size=2 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><li ><a name="1204779"> </a>for ranges of the instruction count using the <font size=2 face=Courier><strong>trace</strong></font> command line option with a list of trace level and instruction count arguments, where the instruction count is a count of the number of instructions executed by the simulator so far, including bootstrap code,</font></p>
<p> <font size=2 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><li ><a name="1204780"> </a>for sections of code within the application by inserting special pseudo-instructions in the code.</font></p>

The entire trace output can be sent to a trace file by using the <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>tracelog</b></font> <font size=2 face=Courier><strong><em>file</em></strong></font> option on the <font size=2 face=Courier><strong>st20sim</strong></font> command line.</font>
