This is performed by recording the times when the processor becomes idle and the times when it becomes active again. The times generated are measured in microseconds.</font>

The time data can be extracted using the <font size=2 face=Courier><strong>profile</strong></font> command with the <font  face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>idle</b></font> option. The <font size=2 face=Courier><strong>profile</strong></font> command options <font  face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>isize</b></font> and <font  face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><b>iwrap</b></font> enable the size of the idle profiling buffer to be set and to specify whether, when the buffer is full, to overwrite existing data or discard new data.</font>
