The Boson NetSim(tm) product emulates similar input-output concepts as the various Cisco(r) command-line interfaces, to allow the user to study and practice Boson's "hands-on" labs for various Cisco(r) certifications; but without huge investments in hardware.  Boson-certified custom labs, lessons, and courseware, are available for an additional fee.  The Boson NetSim(tm) is certified by Boson to work with optional Boson courseware/labs which are sold separately.  The following components are contained within the Boson NetSim(tm): 

 - Boson Router Simulator(r)
 - Boson Switch Simulator(tm)
 - Boson Station Simulator(tm)
 - Boson Network Designer(tm) 
 - Boson Certified Labs(tm) 
 - Boson Training Lessons(tm)

 - IBM-PC 100% Compatible at 500mhz or faster
 - Windows(r) 98 or Me with 64mb RAM
 - Windows 2000 or XP with 128mb RAM
 - NOT supported: Windows 95 or NT
 - Triple your RAM in free disk space 
 - TCP/IP installed for Telnet features
 - Internet access for immediate registration

Recommended Requirements:

 - Pentium(r) or Athlon(r) at 1000mhz or faster
 - Windows(r) 98 or Me with 128mb RAM
 - Windows 2000 or XP with 256mb RAM
 - NOT supported: Windows 95 or NT
 - 100mb + Triple your RAM in free disk space 
 - TCP/IP installed for Telnet features
 - Internet access for immediate registration

The NetSim introductory tutorial will launch immediately after the first-time Setup Wizard.  This tutorial is designed to be a simple product overview only, and does not cover any advanced features. 

To skip reading the manual or tutorial and just get started, launch the Boson NetSim(tm) by clicking on Start Menu -> Programs -> Boson Software -> Boson NetSim

By default, like most Boson products, the Boson NetSim initially launches in the "Demo" mode.  The Boson Demo mode permits some limited functionality of the Boson NetSim, but lacks the ability to enter "configuration mode" - otherwise known as "CONFIG T" on Cisco(r) CLI-driven devices.  

To purchase a license, simply launch the Boson NetSim in Demo mode, then click on the Register Now button.  You will then be guided through the Boson license wizards, which explain the various licenses available, and guide you through completing your order.  Note that some license models require prior registration by first contacting the Boson Sales Office.  After purchasing a Boson NetSim(tm) license, the eRouter "configuration mode" with those Boson commands currently supported will become available.  

For the default "Single Computer / Single User" license, technical support is provided from the date of registration for a period of Ninty (90) days.  Other license models may have longer or shorter technical support, depending upon the period of support time purchased with the license.
