Installation of Automake</A></H2><P>Automake-1.5 is known to be too new for someapplications. Description</A></H2><DIVCLASS="sect3"><H3CLASS="sect3"><ANAME="AEN2394">6.21.3.1. aclocal</A></H3><P>Automake includes a number of Autoconf macros which can be used inpackages; some of them are actually required by Automake in certainsituations. These macros must be defined in the aclocal.m4-file;otherwise they will not be seen by autoconf.</P><P>The aclocal program will automatically generate aclocal.m4 filesbased on the contents of configure.in. This provides a convenientway to get Automake-provided macros, without having to search around.Also, the aclocal mechanism is extensible for use by other packages.</P></DIV><DIVCLASS="sect3"><H3CLASS="sect3"><ANAME="AEN2398">6.21.3.2. automake</A></H3><P>To create all the Makefile.in's for a package, run the automakeprogram in the top level directory, with no arguments. automake willautomatically find each appropriate Makefile.am (by scanningconfigure.in) and generate the corresponding Makefile.in.</P></DIV></DIV><DIVCLASS="sect2"><H2CLASS="sect2"><ANAME="AEN2401">6.21.4.
