Introduction to the FDC toolbox

The FDC toolbox is a Matlab/Simulink toolbox for Flight Dynamics and
Control analysis. It includes a full-featured non-linear dynamic model of the DeHavilland DHC-2 'Beaver' aircraft,
implemented in a modular Simulink block-diagram structure, plus several Matlab programs that can be used to access the model for the determination of steady-state trimmed flight conditions and to linearize the model. Due to its modular structure, it is relatively easy to adapt the aircraft model for other types of aircraft, if desired.

FDC also contains some additional Simulink
systems which can be coupled to the input or output side of the nonlinear
aircraft model. These systems include wind and
turbulence models for assessing aircraft responses to atmospheric disturbances, and radio navigation models, which can simulate ILS or VOR radio-navigation signals.

The main entry into the FDC toolbox is provided by the Simulink library FDCLIB. It provides access to sublibraries which contain all blocks from the Beaver simulation model and links to the aircraft model itself. FDCLIB also provides access to the wind and turbulence library, the navigation models library, open-loop simulation models and simulation models of the 'Beaver' autopilot.

Detailed information about all models and libraries can be found in the FDC user-manual. More on-line help information is also available; see the table of contents for more details.
