演奏音乐以及其它形式的音响效果，大概是使Web页更具吸引力的最普通的方法。RealAudio在提
高你获得的声音质量时，至少使得这个过程容易些。RealAudio有好几种不同形式，而不仅仅是一种ActiveX控件。这个多媒体的当前版本还可以做
为Netscape
Navigator的插件。在http://www.realaudio.com/可以与RealAudio的制作者联系，从而了解播放器、SDK和支持
的实用程序的详细情况。SDK、RealAudio Encoder（编码器）、RealAudio TimeLine
Editor（在线编辑器）、RealAudio Personal Sever （个人服务器）以及RealAudio Content
CreationGuide（内容创建指南）是可以免费下载的。RealAudio Personal
Sever支持两种数据流──这对于用于演示和试验目的来说是太多了点。<br>
这个播放器提供的多层次支持，只是使用这一特定技术的原因之一。相当多的站点都使用了它。最有趣的站点
是 http: //www. cdnow. com/ （它与Magazine
Warehouse相连接）。这是一个使用多媒体效果的CD/movie（电影）商店。例如，如果你打算买一张CD，那么在购买之前可以先在你的PC扬声
器上听一听所选的乐曲片段。它还卖Ｔ恤衫，你可以在购买之前先看一看货。唯一做不到的是不能在购买电影之前先看一些电影片段，但几乎可以肯定的是它最终会
添加这一功能。<br>
启动RealAudio不成问题，要做的只不过是安装服务程序，对你的文件编码，然后安装Web页。
RealAudio
Encoder实用程序对话框如下图所示。只需选择将要编码的文件，在Description（说明）区键入所需的信息，然后单击Encode
按钮对文件编码（RealAudio Encoder实用程序自动地为你指定一个目的文件名）。<br>

把这个控件添加到Web页也相当容易。在ActiveX Control Pad 的
InsertActiveX
Control（插入ActiveX控件）对话框的控件列表中，选择RealAudio控件──以前我们所做的也是这样一个过程。除了CodeBase这
一个属性需要改变外，其它需要改变的属性如下图所示，把声音文件所在的URL打入即可。<br>

程序列表10.7是这个示例的代码。注意它包含了NCompass
ScriptActive所需的<EMBED>标记。它是在Netscape Navigator和Internet Explorer
上都能无毛病地进行工作的少数控件之一。<br>
注释
也许需要改变一下RealAudio1<OBJECT>标记中HEIGHT和WIDTH属性，使它能在你的特定的显示配置中工作。当前值代表
的是缺省尺寸，也许有些人会发现在高分辨率显示中它太小了。<br>
