20040814 SSUM 1.0 : Signals and Systems Using MATLAB20050331 SSUM 2.0 alpha : Signals and Systems Using MATLABWHAT:=====Signals and Systems Using MATLAB (SSUM) was developed during my Master's workin the Media Arts And Technology (MAT) program at University of California,Santa Barbara (http://www.mat.ucsb.edu). It serves as an excellent tool forteaching and learning media signal processing by doing.WHY:====The "media signal processing for artists" course offered at MAT was in direneed of effective and interesting demonstrations. Supported by the professorof the course, Dr. Jerry Gibson, I developed SSUM to cater to the interestsand abilities of students without advanced mathematics. HOW:====To start SSUM cd to the SSUM directory and type "ssum". Choose the applicationsfrom the menu and click run. Help is available for each application. To fullyutilize all of the applications you must have the signal processing toolbox.SSUM runs best using MATLAB 6.5, version 13, or above, and with a screenresolution larger than 800x600. In each directory is a demonstration created with and executed by MATLAB. Thecontents of each directory have the following format: someexpo.fig - fig file used by GUIDE someexpofn.m - functions executed by the GUI widgets someexpogui.m - entire application exported by GUIDE someexpo.m - GUI application file used by GUIDETo run the program you can either run someexpo if your version of MATLABsupports .fig files, or you can run someexpogui, which doesn't rely on the .figfile. This capaibility exists for users of older versions of matlab.Problems, bugs, fixes, should be sent only to the author.WHO:====Bob L.
