.SH DESCRIPTION
\fBrpasswdd\fR is a daemon that lets users change their passwords in the
presence of a directory service like NIS, NIS+ or LDAP over a secure SSL
connection. \fBrpasswdd\fR behaves like the normal
.BR passwd (1)
program and uses PAM for authentification and changing the password, so
it can be configured very flexibel for the local requirements.

A normal user may only change the password for their own account, if the
user knows the password of the administrator account (in the moment this
is the root password on the server), he may change the password for any
account if he calls \fBrpasswd\fR with the \fB-a\fR option.

Causes the server to run in debugging mode. Normally, \fBrpasswdd\fR
reports only errors using the syslog(3) facility. In debug mode, the
server does not background itself and prints extra status messages to
stderr for each request that it revceives.
