The emphases and usage might be different for the two terms.

As suggested by its name, times series data(items) should be related to a cer
tain
series. This might not be true for temporal data, which only denote time 
related attributes of each data(item). 

In the context of temporal database (or spatial-temporal, bi-temporal),
temporal data usually implies each tuple has at least one of the following 
attributes: transaction time and valid time. They are, however, hardly related
to DM context.
