Scope:

Artificial intelligence techniques have been widely accepted in medicine. In

order to reflect the increasing contributions made by researchers residing in 

China in this area, the leading international journal Artificial Intelligence 

in Medicine is now organising a special issue on Advances of Artificial 

Intelligence in Medicine in China. The topics of interest include, but are not

limited to:

 - AI-based clinical decision-making

 - Medical knowledge engineering

 - Medical data mining

 - Reasoning and metareasoning in medicine

 - Machine learning in medicine

 - Soft computing in medicine

 - Knowledge-based systems in medical education and research

 - Medical image processing

 - Medical knowledge representation

 - Intelligent medical information systems

 - Intelligent devices and instruments

 - Medical AI tools

 - Methodological, philosophical, ethical and social issues of AI in medicine


Important Dates:

   Submission deadline:           Apr. 1, 2003

   Notification due:              Aug. 1, 2003

   Final version due:             Nov. 1, 2003

   Tentative publication date:    Mid 2004


Author Instructions:

1. Manuscripts must be written in English.

2. The first affiliation must reside in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, 

   or Macau.

3. Submission of a manuscript is understood to imply that the manuscript is 

   original and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Upon 

   acceptance of the manuscript by the journal, the author(s) will be asked 

   to transfer the copyright of the manuscript to the publisher. This 

   transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.

4. Name of the authors and their affiliations should not appear in the 

   manuscript. Instead, authors should submit along with the manuscript a 

   separate title page, including the title of the paper, the names and 

   addresses of all authors, a short abstract of less than 200 words, a list 

   of keywords, and the telephone number, fax number, and email address
  
   of the corresponding author.

5. Manuscripts should be typewritten, typed on one side of the paper, with 

   wide margins and double spacing throughout,i.e. also for abstracts, 

   footnotes and references. Every page of the manuscript, including the 

   title page, references, tables, etc. should be numbered.

6. Each submission will be anonymously reviewed by at least two reviewers. 

   The authors may be required to do further revisions according to the 

   comments from the reviewers.

7. Submissions must be electronically submitted in Portable Document Format 

   (pdf) or Postscript  to either of the guest editors.

9. Artificial Intelligence in Medicine carries no page charges.
