I am not sure if this problem fits in any mathematics theories. I guess it 
has much to do with the business analysis model. 

For your reference, Sunita Sarawagi has a VLDB 99 paper on automatically
finding the difference of two cube tuples. 

btw, r u doing researches in olap field?
