RSKD: International Workshop on Rough Sets in Knowledge Discovery and
Soft Computing
ETAPS 2003 Satellite Event
April 12-13, 2003, Warsaw, Poland
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
Rough Set theory was introduced by Zdzis?aw Pawlak in the early 80's a
nd has reached a level of high visibility and maturity. In recent year
s, we have witnessed diverse, as well as, widespread research in rough
set theory and its applications worldwide. A considerable number of a
pplications of rough sets in medicine, economics, finance, business, e
nvironment, electrical and computer engineering, a number of sciences,
software engineering, and information science have been introduced in
recent years. In addition, many rough set case studies and more than
a dozen commercial, as well as, research rough set tools are currently
available. The proposed workshop is intended as a place for researche
rs from universities, laboratories and industry to present state-of-th
e-art in rough set theory and its applications. The workshop will also
make it possible for researchers and developers to highlight new rese
arch directions, new applications, and a growing number of relationshi
ps between rough sets and such areas as computational intelligence, kn
owledge discovery and data mining, intelligent information systems, sy
nthesis and analysis of complex objects and non-conventional models of
computation. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researcher
s from diverse fields of expertise to facilitate dialogue and cooperat
ion. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: rough set theory
and applications,
applications of soft computing,
logical aspects of soft computing,
complexity aspects of soft computing,
computational intelligence,
computing with words,
granular computing,
multi-criteria decision analysis,
decision support systems,
approximate and uncertain reasoning,
knowledge discovery and data mining,
hybrid and integrated intelligent systems,
decision support systems,
web intelligence,
machine learning.
