My Research Interests 
       -- Web Mining and User Modeling for Internet Recommendation (Web IC Any

I am interested in Data Mining, that is, identifying learning problem of real 
application, and designing learning process to solve it.

I have done Data Mining research on Mandarin Text-To-Speech, acquiring pitch m
odels from actual speech and generate high quality synthesized speech.

I am now doing some research on Web Mining, and I intend to build learning sys
tem to generate useful recommendations for web user.

Web mining is the application of data mining or other information process tech
niques to WWW, to find useful patterns. People can take advantage of these pat
terns to access WWW more efficiently. 

In our case, we want to help the web user by providing really useful recommend
ations, that is, some pages that contain the information that user wants. It s
ounds amazing! For example, you want to find cheap used car, and after several
 clicks, our system will present you a list of pages that provide information 
on cheap used car, what do you think about this recommendation system?

To do so, we try to identify what information user wants based on the observed
 click stream, which we call it Information Goalm and then crawl current web s
ite to find pages that match the Information Goal, or send synthesized query t
o search Engines. It is not an easy job, which will put usage, content, and ma
ybe structure mining together, and some machine learning algorithms.
