right, bootstrap is a resampling method in statistics.

since the quesiton is raised like 'bootstrap and boosting', I guess in this
contex bootstrap is acutally 'bagging'.

bagging is abbereviated from 'bootstrap aggregation', in the literature, some
guys will refer to 'bagging' as 'bootstraping', like in this paper:

  The Random Subspace Method for Constructing Decision Forests, TPAMI 20(8),
