Detection of Remote Protein Homologies
A core problem in statistical biosequence analysis is the annotation of new
protein sequences with structural and functional features. To a degree,
this can be achieved by relating the new sequences to proteins for which
such structural properties are already known. Although numerous techniques
have been applied to this problem with success, the detection of remote
protein homologies has remained a challenge.
