As of 08-Apr-2007 any official version of eraser will carry out the following actions:

After Erasing it will set the created and modified dats to "January 1st, 1980 0:00"


When erasing freespace eraser will create in the root of the drive a directory called "~ERAFSWD.TMP"
It will then proceed to fill this directory with files. For example if the drive is say 500G the files will be 
42270720K in size each. Once the drive is full eraser will proceed to wipe each file in accordance with 
the users settings.  For the avoidance of doubt,It is important to note that the structure created in the "~ERAFSWD.TMP" directory is of a single level i.e 
no subdirectories are created.
