Terminals listen to theirown transmissions (after a delay), and if they do not successfully receivetheir own packet within a timeout interval, they perform exponential backoff and then retransmit the packet. Three variants exist:<TT>basic</TT>, <TT>basic_tracing</TT>, and <TT>poisson</TT>.
