RELEASE NOTES

1. Online Documentation
The AMD Alchemy Board Support Package User's Manual contains
information for your platform and can be accessed via your PC,
using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If necessary, you can download the Reader
at:
http://www.adobe.com
Also enclosed is the Quickstart Guide, which explains how to build an
image and update the Loader.

2. Serial Port Connection
Before creating a HyperTerminal Loader Session, use a serial debug
cable to connect Serial Port 0 (J6) on the target platform to the host
platform.
________________________
3. Booting from a CF Card
CF cards formatted under Windows as "FAT" are supported. FAT32 is
not supported by eboot.
________________________
4. Issues with ActiveSync
When changing baud rates from the default of 19200, it might be
necessary to make several connection attempts before getting a
successful connection. The host will always attempt first to use the
last baud rate used. This rate is stored in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\
SerialBaudRate.
Note that after you create a new connection, you must set it as the
default connection of the device (create a new connection in Control
Panel|Network and Dialup Connections, then set this as the default in
Control Panel|PC Connection). Use the following steps to do this:
MAKE A NEW CONNECTION:
1. Open the Network Connections applet on the Control Panel.
2. Double-click the 'Make New Connection' icon.
3. Enter a name, choose the 'Direct Connection' radio button and
click Next.
4. On the next screen, 'Serial Cable on COM3' should be selected.
5. Click the 'Configure' button.
6. Change the baud rate and any other setting desired under Connection
Preferences.
7. Click OK, and then click Finish on the 'Device' screen.
SET AS DEFAULT CONNECTION:
8. Open the PC Connection applet on the Control Panel.
9. Make sure the 'Allow connection with desktop computer when device
is attached' box is checked. Click on the 'Change' button.
10. In the list box on the 'Change Connection' screen choose the
connection you just created. This will be the default connection.
11. Click OK on this screen, and OK on the PC Connection screen.
ActiveSync will now use the parameters you specified in your new
connection.

5. _WINCEROOT Environment Variable not initially set.
A clean install of Windows CE 5.0 does not set the _WINCEROOT
environment variable. You must set this yourself to the fully
qualified path of your CE root. You can set this for your current
build window, or set it permanently in ControPanel/SystemProperties.
________________________
6. Can't load NK.BIN from PCMCIA Storage Card on first attempt.
Using the Eboot "atacard" command will fail on the first attempt with
certain PCMCIA storage cards. Subsequent use of the "atacard" command
will be successful. Compact Flash storage cards are not affected.
________________________
7. USB Exceptions seen on projects with long Workspace names.
Platform Builder Workspace names greater than 16 characters in length
can cause spurious exceptions in USBD.DLL.
________________________
8. Limited Hard Drive DMA Reads
Hard Drive DMA reads are currently limited to one sector at a time.
This is a workaround for an infrequent problem seen when reading
multiple sectors.
________________________
9. USBFN Client Drivers Performance
To obtain best performance from the new USB Function Architecture make
use of the optional dwBufferPhysicalAddress parameter in calls to
lpIssueTransfer.
________________________
10. Removal of Default Drivers Not Possible
Certain Device Drivers are set as defaults for a new project via the
db1200.bat file. These Device Drivers cannot be removed from a
Workspace via the Platform Builder IDE. To remove one of these drivers,
edit the db1200.bat file so that the appropriate BSP_xxx variable is
no longer set.
Then, right-click on "AMD DB1200:MIPSII" in the IDE Workspace view and
select "Refresh Catalog Items".
________________________
11. Loading SDIO WiFi at Device Power Up
If the device is powered on with the SyChip SDIO WiFi card inserted,
the driver for the card is not always loaded correctly. Remove and
resinsert the card to load the driver.
________________________
12. Issues with USBFN Mass Storage Connection at Power Up
The USBFN Mass Storage Client will not operate correctly if the device
is powered up with the USB Function cable inserted. This is caused by
the Mass Storage Client attempting to open the "DSK1:" Store before
the Store is ready. The source code to the Mass Storage Client in the
Public Tree can be modified to fix this.
