Instructions for translating KCeasy
-----------------------------------

IMPORTANT: Before starting to translate anything subscribe to
http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/kceasy-localization and tell
us what language you want to translate to. This prevents multiple people
doing the same work.

KCeasy uses gettext for all localization. This package contains
default.po files which need to be translated.

If there already is a translation for your language you need to use the
default.po file in the two letter directory for you language. It will
have most fields already translated from previous versions and you only
need to translate new strings. Please note that there will be strings
which have changed but still have a similar translation from the previous
version. You _have_ to go over these again and make sure they are OK!

If you start with a new language use the default.po in the top directory.

First get poEdit from

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/poedit/poedit-1.3.4-setup.exe

And use it to open the default.po [1]

Then go to Catalog->Settings and select your language, country, team and email.
IMPORTANT: Make sure Charset is set to UTF-8!

After that you can start translating. The upper half of the screen
shows all original strings on the left and the translations on the right.
The bottom right screen shows comments about each string to help you with
translation.
The bottom left part has two windows. The top window shows the english
and the bottom window is where you enter your translation.

Some rules for translating:
- Do not change {AppName} it will be replaced with 'KCeasy' during runtime.
- If there are multiple format specifiers (%s,%d,%u,...) per string do not
change their order. They are replaced by numbers/strings during runtime.
- \n means new line. Try to not change them.
- \" are quotes, do not change them.
- Don't try to translate technical terms which do not exist in your language.
For example "Mime-Type" or "Hash" should remain just that.

Once you have translated all (or some for testing) strings just save the file.
This will update the default.po file which you should send to
translations@kceasy.com when finished.

Saving will also create a file named default.mo. You can use this file to
test your translation with KCeasy. Go to the folder where you installed KCeasy
and into the subdir "locale". Here each language has its own two letter subdir.
Create a new one for your language using the table at
http://dybdahl.dk/dxgettext/docs/online/standards.html#ISO639 to figure out the
two letter code. In this directory create another folder named LC_MESSAGES in
which you put the default.mo. Restart KCeasy and select your language in the
config.

If you have any questions send them to the mailing list you subscribed to above.
