Other implementations are allowedto catch the signal and go back to sleep until the requested time expires or to provide the normal signal terminationprocedures.</p><p>As with all other utilities that take integral operands and do not specify subranges of allowed values, <i>sleep</i> is requiredby this volume of IEEE Std 1003.1-2001 to deal with <i>time</i> requests of up to 2147483647 seconds. This may mean thatsome implementations have to make multiple calls to the delay mechanism of the underlying operating system if its argument range isless than this.</p></blockquote><h4><a name="tag_04_130_19"></a>FUTURE DIRECTIONS</h4><blockquote><p>None.</p></blockquote><h4><a name="tag_04_130_20"></a>SEE ALSO</h4><blockquote><p><a href="wait.html"><i>wait</i></a> , the System Interfaces volume of IEEE Std 1003.1-2001, <a href="../functions/alarm.html"><i>alarm</i>()</a>, <a href="../functions/sleep.html"><i>sleep</i>()</a></p></blockquote><h4><a name="tag_04_130_21"></a>CHANGE HISTORY</h4><blockquote><p>First released in Issue 2.</p></blockquote><div class="box"><em>End of informative text.</em></div><hr><hr size="2" noshade><center><font size="2"><!--footer start-->UNIX ® is a registered Trademark of The Open Group.<br>POSIX ® is a registered Trademark of The IEEE.<br>[ <a href="../mindex.html">Main Index</a> | <a href="../basedefs/contents.html">XBD</a> | <a href="../utilities/contents.html">XCU</a> | <a href="../functions/contents.html">XSH</a> | <a href="../xrat/contents.html">XRAT</a>]</font></center><!--footer end--><hr size="2" noshade></body></html>
