X is assigned a monic univariate primitive polynomial of degree n in the variable A over the specified Galois field GF(2^m) (m>1). X has j non vanishing coefficients and X(0) is not equal to zero. The exponent of a polynomial f(A) over GF(2^m) is the minimal e such that f(A) divides A^e-1. The polynomial f(A) is primitive, if the exponent of f(A) has the maximal possible value 2^m-1.
