** DING:     The utility formerly known as "ring" or "pinger"
             added functionality from the library:
             ding -r hostname ==> reports the round trip time in
             milliseconds.
** LIBPING:  added tpinghost and tpingthost, two functions which
             return the round trip time in milliseconds. The library
             is now threadsafe.
** API:      int tpinghost( char *hostname ); 
             int tpingthost( char *hostname, int timeout );
