{title:Description}
{pstd}
{cmd:set smalldlg} determines whether Stata on Windows 98 and ME
computers will use smaller versions of some dialog boxes (those
with fewer controls).
{title:Option}
{phang}
{cmd:permanently} specifies that, in addition to making the change right now,
the setting be remembered and become the default setting when you invoke Stata.
{title:Remarks}
{pstd}
The operating systems
Windows 98 and ME have a memory area that is shared by all running
applications for storing interface controls. This memory area is limited to
64K and cannot be increased. Some of Stata's dialog boxes have a large number
of controls, and, depending on how much of the 64K memory area is being used
by other applications, Stata's dialog boxes may not be able to be displayed.
In this situation, {cmd:smalldlg} may be set {cmd:on} so that Stata uses
dialog boxes with fewer controls.
