{cmd:stdes} {ifin} [{opt w:eight} {opt nosh:ow}]
{pstd}
You must {cmd:stset} your data before using {cmd:stdes}; see {helpb stset}.
{pstd}
Note that {opt fweight}s, {opt iweight}s, and {opt pweight}s may be specified
using {cmd:stset}; see {helpb stset}.
{pstd}
{cmd:by} may be used with {cmd:stdes}; see {helpb by}.
{title:Description}
{pstd}
{cmd:stdes} produces a summary of the st data in a computer or data-based
sense rather than in an analytical or statistical sense.
{pstd}
{cmd:stdes} can be used with single- or multiple-record or single- or
multiple-failure st data.
{title:Options}
{dlgtab:Main}
{phang}
{opt weight} specifies that the summary use weighted rather than unweighted
statistics. {opt weight} does nothing unless you specified a weight when you
{cmd:stset} the data. The {opt weight} option and the ability to ignore
weights are unique to {cmd:stdes}. The purpose of {cmd:stdes} is to describe
the data in a computer sense{hline 2}the number of records, etc.{hline 2}and
for that purpose, the weights are best ignored.
{phang}
{opt noshow} prevents {cmd:stdes} from showing the key st variables. This
option is seldom used since most people type {cmd:stset, show} or
{cmd:stset, noshow} to set whether they want to see these variables mentioned
at the top of the output of every st command; see {helpb stset}.
