README for TestSnooze and OnOffAppAuthor/Contact: tinyos-help@millennium.berkeley.eduDescription:OnOffApp is an application the utilizes low power radio samplingin order to turn the node "off" or "on". The application is anexample of how to use the OnOff component, OnOff.nc, to have theability to switch the power consumption of the node remotely. When thenode is on, the Red LED will be on and vice versa. This application will only run on the Mica2 and Mica2Dot platformswith Chipcon CC1000 Radios.TestSnooze is a basic application that illustrates the use ofthe Snooze component to put the mote into a low power statefor a user-defined period. The mote will be on, wait forthree Clock.fire() events, and then enter the low power state. The soft state (variables, etc) of the application are preservedin SRAM on the microprocessor. One can notice the internalprivate sleep() function causes the mote to sleep for 4 seconds. This application will only run on the Mica platformwith RFM radio.Requirements:OnOffApp has no additional requirements for Mica2/Mica2Dot.Mica motes must be physically modified in order to Snooze. Informationabout the modification is available at:http://webs.cs.berkeley.edu/tos/hardware/diode_html.htmlPlatforms:OnOffApp demonstrates power management on Mica2/Mica2DotTestSnooze demonstrates power management on MicaTools:Use "MessageInjector" in the MessageCenter java application to injectan "on" or "off" message. See package: net.tinyos.mcenterin tools/java and onoff.h for OnOffMsgKnown bugs/limitations:None OnOffApp: When the mote is in the 'Off' mode, the radio stack is put into the lowest possible duty cycle (< 1%). If the node used to transmit the wakeup message (i.e. a TOSBase) is not in the same duty cycle mode, it make take a few transmissions for the target to 'hear' the wakeup message.
